How a Wi-Fi QR code works

A Wi-Fi QR code encodes your wireless network name (SSID), network password, and security encryption type (such as WPA or WEP) into a specific standardized format: WIFI:S:MyNetwork;T:WPA;P:MyPassword;;.

When modern iOS or Android smartphones scan this code using their native camera application, they recognize the syntax pattern, parse the credentials, and display a prompt asking the user if they would like to join the wireless network automatically.

Perfect for cafes, rentals, and offices

Reading and manually typing long, complex, and secure wireless passwords is often frustrating for visitors and frequently leads to typos and connection errors. A printed Wi-Fi QR code card makes connecting effortless.

Placing a beautifully designed QR card in cafe table tents, Airbnb guest folders, corporate lobby counters, or school classrooms improves user experience. We suggest adding a helpful label near the image, such as "Scan to Connect to Free Wi-Fi".

Proper security and privacy

QR Quick is designed around maximum user privacy and data security. The conversion of your Wi-Fi network credentials into a scannable QR pattern is handled entirely in your web browser locally via client-side JavaScript. Your SSID and password are never sent to our servers or stored online.

Keep in mind that anyone who scans the printed card can read the network details and connect to your Wi-Fi. Ensure the QR code is only displayed in spaces where you trust the intended audience.

FAQ

Will this connect both iPhone and Android users automatically?

Yes. Modern iPhones running iOS 11+ and Android devices have built-in QR readers in their native camera apps that recognize the standard Wi-Fi format and trigger a seamless, one-tap join dialog.

What if my Wi-Fi network has no password?

You can choose the "Unencrypted / Open" option in the Network Type dropdown. This generates a clean QR code with only the SSID, enabling users to join your network without a password prompt.

Can I generate a QR code for a hidden network (SSID)?

Yes. If your wireless network SSID is configured to be hidden from broadcasting, check the "Hidden Network" checkbox. This inserts the H:true flag into the Wi-Fi string, instructing the scanning device to search for your hidden SSID.
